Government of the North West Territories
The Environmental Protection and Waste Management Division is responsible for managing the operations of the Government of the Northwest Territories' (GNWT) recycling programs (including the Beverage Container Program), for monitoring, inspecting and auditing depot and processing centre operations, and for implementing new waste prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling programs in accordance with the Waste Reduction and Recovery Act (WRRA) and with regulations under the WRRA, to ensure that these programs meet the goals and objectives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Waste Reduction and Management Section.
